On March 18th, 2016, we held our seventh Vaimo Hackathon event that is open to anyone and everyone from all Vaimo offices. The theme this time was “Magento 2,” and participants were required to have Magento 2 up and running before the event. The teams needed to register their members, ideas, and then HACK - all day on Friday. The lucky Hackers got treated to three square meals on this most fateful of days!
The following Monday, the teams needed to submit an internal blog post about WHY they tackled the issue they focused on, HOW did it go, WHAT did they learn, and how could this tool be USED at Vaimo. This time, we had 40 participants, and about 22 teams in total. Vaimoers will vote for the top 3 most interesting projects, and these teams will demo their ideas, whether in-progress or finished, to all offices via broadcast at the end of March. The recommended suggestions for the projects were:
- Create a custom theme
- Create a payment method
- Research how the frontend workflow works
The idea behind our Hackathon events is that we will use our brain power to come up with new innovative tools that will inevitably help our clients by bettering our services and products.

- Magento 2 Weather Product Forecast
- Improve Magento 2 build time in Jenkins
- Improved Scheduler module for Magento 2
- Quick order functionality to shopping cart page
- Convert Currency Importer from Magento 1 to Magento 2
- And much, much more!
