On April 6th, 2016, Bronto hosted a webinar to introduce their latest product, the Magento Connector. Christopher Geiss, Director of Commerce Apps, and Product Owner at Bronto, held the webinar and looked at the timeline, architecture, features, and a demo of the Magento Connector. About a week after the webinar, Bronto announced that the Magento Connector had been reviewed and granted the Magento 2 certification.
What's Bronto, and what's this Magento Connector?
Bronto is a marketing platform for commerce that is the leading email marketing provider to the Internet Retailer Top 1000. Bronto offers an advanced marketing automation engine, and solutions for cart abandonment, post-purchase campaigns and powerful eCommerce integrations.
Bronto's Magento Connector, made for Magento 1 and 2, enables the seamless import of past-purchase information from Magento into the Bronto Marketing Platform, including the full order history and the details about specific products purchased. This allows a retailer to craft extremely targeted and personalised emails and cross-channel marketing campaigns at scale.
Bronto took a different approach for Magento 2 and introduced the connector in their extension which allows the extension on the Magento side to be very light. Essentially, it passes events to the connector, which then leverages the Bronto API to interact with Bronto, and the end result is that the configuration is done within the Bronto interface. This means that Bronto can change the logic and perform updates without requiring the user to update the extension. Also, Bronto does not need to access the user's admin panel to offer support, which makes for better support and service throughout.
